Cultural centers in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County

A theatre hall, a factory-town centre and community houses

The Paulay Ede Színház in Tokaj is the outlier: a two-level auditorium with a gallery seating 298, built with sound-reflecting elements and fitted with modern sound and lighting, and also used for congresses and conferences. Derkovits Kulturális Központ in Tiszaújváros works on a different scale, hiring out a 90 m² hall with 110 seats and a 136 m² space at hourly or daily rates.

In Miskolc the Görömbölyi Művelődési Ház states weddings, wedding receptions and corporate events among its occasions, with a main hall seating 120 in rows or 70–80 at tables. Gárdonyi Géza Művelődési Ház offers a parquet-floored, air-conditioned hall for up to 160 in rows or 80 at tables, and the Youth and Leisure house has a lecture hall for 50–70 and a ten-person meeting room.

Matching the room to the programme

Seating figures usually come in two versions, rows and tables, and the gap matters for a dinner or a ceremony. Ask which layout the quoted number refers to, and whether tables and chairs are set out on request, as at Gárdonyi Géza Művelődési Ház and the Youth and Leisure house. Technical needs are often handled separately, so confirm projectors, sound and lighting in writing.

Sajószentpéter shows how far a programme can stretch: Pécsi Sándor Művelődési Ház names conferences and corporate events alongside weddings, balls, class reunions and graduation banquets, arranged by prior agreement. Its own equipment list covers projector, screen, sound reinforcement and lighting. Accessibility also varies by room, so check the specific hall rather than the building as a whole.

Confirming private hire and the exact room

A public programme or a listed occasion does not by itself mean a room can be hired privately. For each venue, confirm whether private hire is possible for the intended date and event type, which room is offered, and what the rate covers.
