Sports event venues in Somogy County

Academy campus versus town hall

The National Handball Academy Sports Hall of Fame in Balatonboglár, at Gaál Gaszton u. 58, is a youth training centre whose campus also hosts training camps in various sports and conferences. A conference room for 200 people can be split into three units with mobile walls, and a 200 nm restaurant with its own kitchen seats 120 guests at once, with plate service or buffet.

Kiss Szilárd Sportcsarnok on Szekrényessy Kálmán street in Siófok is the spectator-facing option: it is described as accommodating 1,400 spectators for handball matches and close to 3,000 people at other events. A separate training hall seats 185 spectators and includes six changing rooms, a buffet, a gym and office rooms.

Matching the hall to the programme

Beyond the two flagship sites, the county offers smaller settings. Csurgói Sportcsarnok on Sárgáti utca in Csurgó appears as an event planner, ticket seller and gym as well as a sports hall, with wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and toilet. Urányi János Sport és Szabadidő Központ in Balatonboglár has a 25-metre, four-lane pool used for lessons, training, swimming camps and in-house competitions.

For outdoor and water-based programmes, Lelle Beach Club in Balatonlelle at Honvéd u. 8 runs stand up paddle, kayaking, canoeing and cycling, and presents itself as a base for sports camps and corporate events. Meistro Kft., a riding farm at Keceli bejáró 1 in Kaposvár, welcomes school trips and kindergarten groups and hosts organised events. Confirm with each venue what private hire covers, including technical equipment and changing facilities.

Fixtures, camps and side programmes

Somogy sports venues cover a wide range of formats: fixtures in front of spectators, training camps, conferences and gala evenings. The practical question is which of these a given hall can take alongside its regular sporting use, and how the space divides. Ask about the layout on the day, the equipment included in the hire and the access routes for participants and guests.
