Theatre performance venues in Szeged

Riverside hall, open-air stage, puppet stage

IH Event Center is the most flexible of the three: an event venue on Felső Tisza-part that lists theatre evenings alongside concerts, psychology lectures, conferences, weddings and school farewells, with room rental also covering exhibitions, festivals, class reunions and wedding receptions. Its car park, entrance and toilet are wheelchair-accessible.

Outdoor Theater Újszeged sits in the Erzsébet-liget park at Népkert sor 7, an open-air stage for 1,200 spectators per evening, programmed mainly with prose and family pieces. It is listed as a dinner theatre and theatre-and-restaurant business, and states theatre performances as its occasion type. Kövér Béla Bábszínház on Tisza Lajos körút is a puppet theatre with a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Matching the room to the production

The open-air stage sets a hard limit: 1,200 spectators per evening, and the programme is prose-led with family pieces among the most frequent. A company evening or a reception needs a different kind of space, and here the riverside hall and the puppet theatre's chamber room at Feketesas utca 25 are the realistic options to compare.

For accessibility, the three differ: IH Event Center has an accessible car park, entrance and toilet, Outdoor Theater Újszeged adds accessible seating, and Kövér Béla Bábszínház an accessible entrance. Confirm with the venue what room hire covers, whether the stage and technical crew come with it, and what the chamber room can accommodate.

What to settle before the date

A theatre's public programme does not by itself mean the building is available for private hire. Ask each venue what a hire arrangement includes and which spaces it covers, and check whether catering, a reception or a ceremony can be added. The dinner-theatre listing of Outdoor Theater Újszeged is a business category, not a promise of a set menu, so the food side is worth confirming separately.
